Cash

18 months Gray and black Schnauzer/Poodle mix Handsome Cash was in the shelter four days before anyone noticed he was blind. By then, he was so frightened by the unfamiliar noises, smells, and people that he protected himself in the only way he knew. He became virtually unapproachable. Fast forward, though, to day five when a lovely volunteer, with the help of hot dogs, saw through his fear and brought him to us. A couple of weeks and many hot dogs later, this young lad has settled in quite nicely. Instead of hot dogs, he hungers for tummy rubs, giving lots of love in return. At a glance, you probably won’t notice Cash is blind. He seems to look people directly in their eyes. Interact with him, though, and his life of darkness becomes apparent. We took Cash to our ophthalmologist who said he has a retinal degenerative disease. Cash, though, is one smart and resilient pup. Love, patience, and understanding will help this sweet fellow find his way in the world. He just needs someone to walk his path with him. Cash weighs 14.5 pounds and is neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccines. So, put on your walking shoes and come meet Cash on his path to happily-ever-after.
